Terrific - recommendable

I'm 42 and have played piano for 3 years now. This book is very nice and just makes me want to learn to play every single peace. They sound terrific. I wish that like all American books were written with less white space so you can have a whole song on a single dpuble sheet. (without turning sheets)

Fantastic Book

I have actually had this particular book for many, many years - over 20 years, actually, (white background with red writing! - probably original cover) and I absolutely LOVE it! I don't know whether the music is exactly what Freddie plays or not, but it sounds pretty wonderful to me! I love to "channel my inner Freddie" when I play! (hehe) I'm in my element listening to Queen and love that I can play the music too. It remains my favourite music book to this very day (and I have tonnes of music!). Note: for those who may not like the particular arrangements, listen to your cds/records enough that you can improvise a little and add the bits you want - nothing wrong with that! Just a suggestion :)

Not bad...

This book is the best I have found for all of the Queen songs that I love. However the typscript is poorer than I like, and there are some parts that i would hve liked that were not included. However, the transcription is not bad, most of the reviewers seem to forget that much of rock music is improvisation. This very well could be how the music was written, it may have just been played differently. Overall it is a little simplistic but it doesn't take much to add all of the touches it needs.

Not even close

Notes in book not even close to real piano part. Also misaligned/fuzzy notes.

Ok for lyrics..

I wasn't too excited about the piano arrangement. It was a bit too simplistic. OK for a beginner who wants to play along.

Poor Print Quality

This book looks like a fifth grader copied it off of a coin-op copy machine at a drug store. Blurry notes and inconsistent typeset makes it difficult to read on the fly.

Guitarists Beware!

This is a sad book if you are a guitarist.Unless you are a pianist or vocalist, this book is a waste of time and money. I wanted to play some awesome Brian May licks when my brother (Pianist) bought this book, but they only make a book for pian/vocals/chords. If someone makes this book into a tab book, I have not found it. This makes me very sad.

Disapointed :(

I was honestley very disappointed with this book. Sure, you get a few measures of the real piano part with a few exceptins( It's a Hard Life has the complete piano part and rocks!) but, I was looking forward to playing piano music set aside from vocals instead of just chorded vocal parts made to play on piano. This still is the best piano book for Queen I've found...sadly.

A good buy

Truth: Many of these songs are not the original piano part. The right hand often has melody. The bohemian rhapsody piano part is not how Freddie plays it. Even so, i really liked this book because i do not mind playing a song with the melody. I like to hear Freddie's voice in my song and to be able to play along with the guitar solos. The songs are not easy yet they are not extremely hard; good for a piano player with a fair amount of experience. People who only want to play the original PIANO part as it is heard in the song should not get this book. (like i said, i LOVED it)

Nothing like the transcriptions.

If you want to play Queen as Queen is played then this is not for you. The melody line should not be included in the piano part, but it is here. This book is cool for beginners, but not for people who, for instance, want to learn Freddy's piano part in Bohemian Rhapsody. It's just not there. This book has a horrible piano part for this song, and it's pretty consistent with the others. Get the transcription book, "Best of Queen" for the real thing. This is far from it. I'm returning my copy of this.

great book

This book has some challenging music in it but if you like queen it's definently worth the effort to learn the songs. It has all of queen's best so you'll almost surely have the songs you want to learn.

Looks goood :)

I work at a piano shop in New Zealand and I'm seriously eyeing up this book! I've been playing it on my breaks and I'm loving the transcriptions. I've grown up with Queen since my mum played it all the time and I think this book is fantastic! I'd love to get the Greatest hits one and two, but can't afford it at the momment, but this one is great in the meantime. This book does Queen credit.

Nice

This book is pretty sweet; it's got all the staple Queen songs. Of course, the melody is written in the right hand which is kind of a downer, but the chords make it easy to improvise off of and makes it fun. Definitely get this book if you dont mind improvising and LOVE JAMMIN OUT TO SOME QUEEEEEEEEEN!

Awesome, With Awesome Price

This book is a great book for any Queen fan. You get many songs for a low price. These songs are not easy, they are practically the original music! I recommend this to any piano player who loves Queen. The music is challenging, so be warned!

Awesome

I think this book is good for people who don't just like one song, they like all the popular Queen songs. It may be a little complicated for some, but it's generally playable.

Not great for guitarists.

If you just want to play simple guitar chords, this book is for you. If you want to play something more like the recorded version (which I was looking for), I suggest purchasing a book with tablature--rather than "PVG" (piano, vocals, guitar chords- like this one). Unfortunately, this particular book is NOT available in tablature format. For piano/keyboard this would be good to buy, or if you play bass guitar. Publishers, please release a book with all these great songs in TAB format!!

Queen at its Best

This is a great book if you're looking for a variety of Queen. If "Bohemian Rhapsody" is your thing, this is your song, this is definately your book! The songs are challenging, but are worth the effort to learn them.
