Absolutely love this!
My daughter discovered a piece by David Lanz in a compilation book and loved it, so I got this for her. Now our home is filled with beautiful music that just calms the soul. I would say she is probably an advanced intermediate player, and she was able to easily play each song well within a matter of days, so it was nearly instant gratification for us. The transcript is quite accurate; in fact, the other day she was playing, on her computer, an i-Tunes recording of one of the pieces being played by David Lanz, and her father thought she had recorded herself, they were so similar in note and dynamic. A must buy for anyone who has any inclination towards new age piano.

beautiful melodies
I really like this book of music. The melodies in here are beautiful. It has an almost haunting spirituality to it. It is just beautiful. The only thing is some of the songs are pretty long and a few are very similiar, but other than that I am very happy with this book and greatly enjoy playing it.

A Beautiful Book Inside and Out!
“Painting the Sun” is the companion songbook to David Lanz’s 2008 CD release by the same name. Along with exact transcriptions for all of the songs on the CD, the book includes stunning larger versions of the beautiful CD cover and the rose illustration from Lanz’s website, the liner notes from the CD, and the stories of the creation of and inspiration for each piece – also from Lanz’s website. Beautifully bound for ease of playing, this is one extra-special book! None of the music is very difficult to play, although there are some timing challenges here and there and “Hymn” has a lot of left hand chords with a reach of a tenth. Most players of an upper intermediate level should be able to master and thoroughly enjoy this book. Very highly recommended!
