Well-Tempered Clavier
I bought books one and two in Henle Verlag also, and yes I feel they're reliable, but based on what "original" text? I personally like the Bischoff publication because it gives alternate notes-from different "original" texts--of what Bach may have intended; Verlag doesn't do this.

simply the best edition
This edition, aside from being the most accurate in terms of content, is beautifully engraved with clear printing and perfectly spaced notes. It is so easy to read! I am attempting to learn the entire thing, which will be quite a pleasure with this edition. Everything is written so clearly that you forget about the book itself and focus on the music you're playing. Bach's genius clearly shines through in this edition. The five-voice fugue in C# minor is possibly one of the greatest pieces ever written. I am also building my Henle-Bach collection (unfortunately, henle hasn't published the musical offering or the keyboard arrangements of concerti by other composers). This edition is totally worth the price.

Best edition of this work I've seen
I have 3 editions of the WTC. Based on the recommendation of my teacher I purchased this one. It is the best.

WTC, Part I
Beautiful edition. I agree with another reviewer about the non-glare pages. Very easy to read.

Henle editions are the best on the market
The Henle editions of Bach's keyboard works are unsurpassed for their clear engraving and non-glare paper. They are a joy to use in rehearsing and learning a piece. I plan to complete my library of Bach's solo keyboard works entirely with Henle editions.

Henle edition is worth the money
Urtext, creamy bond paper, nicely bound, a thing of beauty.
