Buy Schirmer Edition
An affordable and good quality Schirmer edition of these works exists under the name "Rhapsodies Hongroises" Get that instead.

Edition was fine
Not the clearest edition, but the pianist I bought it for was delighted and satisfied.

Liszt was a genius! this edition stinks
Liszt was a genius... in my opinion, the greatest composer of piano music ever.. bar none. Each one of the Hungarian Rhapsodies are stunning and brilliant. It is a shame that this edition was put out. it's on 8 1/2 by 11 paper and the notes are very small. not to mention a horrible printing job. don't let the low price fool you because you get what you pay for. notes are incredibly small and the book does not lay flat... the pages are also extremely thin. Get the C.F. Peters editions, they are expensive, but well worth the price. Rule #1: never buy music books from Schirmer or Dover!!!!

Love the Songs, not the edition
I am not basing this review on the quality of liszt's music. I really did not enjoy this book. The print is so small, the pieces look more difficult than they are, and tend to discourage you. I have trouble reading the text from a few feet away at the piano, and I am 15 years old! I really do love these pieces, but do not care for the edition. Think twice before purchasing. I do not feel it is worth the money. Oh, and the cover art is disturbing too.

True Liszt!
This series of pieces is a fantastic collection of the true Liszt compositions as he would have played them. They are hard and definitely not for beginners, but are great!

well worth it!!
these are surely some of the most extensive and incriticate compositions around.you will need guts of steel to attempt these. the "Pester" is by far the most gruelling, but definitely well worth the attempt!!

Great Music!!
These are hard, but, If you take one at a time, and one measure at a time, at a slow pace, you will have it mastered in no time!!! The thing that is discouraging to me is the runs, where you have the tiny 32nd notes.... I HATE THAT! I get so frustrated that I sometimes don't even learn the piece. So I took it apart and finally got it. THE KEY IS FINGERING!!! The only other thing is that the music is small and the front cover is aboslutly ridiculus.

its the best piano music ever
i've never come across such beautifull and complicated music. my favourite ones are 2 and number 6. but there all very individual and sound beautifull. Unless your a serious pianists i would advise you stay way because they really are difficult to master

Great music, but....
The music is beautiful, of course, but it is so difficult that it is frustrating, even to the advanced piano player. The music is very small, making it difficult to read in the first place. I plan to search for a more "advanced" level. I love the music, and would like to enjoy playing it.

DECENT
Despite the ridiculous illustration on the front cover, this edition here presents all the rhapsodies well. However, the pages are somewhat thin and the music is quite small.

Excellent
Very good edition. Putting all the Hungarian Rhapsodies. However, if you are not really serious piano player, stay away from it or you will get upset by its extreme difficulties.

One Glaring Problem
This is a good edition, but at times it becomes very difficult to read from the piano bench due to the notes being very small. It is slightly unavoidable, due to the complexity of these works, but if you can see past it, it is a very good edition.
