This work was written for Taranganba Primary School Concert Band and their Director, Jeanette Douglas. It is part of the Composition and Competition: New Music for Schools which is a partnership between the Young Conservatorium Griffith University and Education Queensland. With regal tones and fanfares of trumpets this piece allows the young musician to proclaim and sing forth in a style reminiscent of Elgar, Walton and the heroic film music of recent years. But it is music of today with the flavour of today's band idiom and the twists and turns that come in that in that type of music. It is a majestic march in five-four time - a contradiction in terms!
