Butterfly Waltz by June C. Montgomery. For Piano. Piano Solo; Solo. Intermediate level piece for the Piano Solo event with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals Bulletin 2008-2009-2010. SMP Level 5 (Intermediate); NFMC Level: Medium Class. Sheet. 4 pages. Published by Alfred Music Publishing (AP.20759).

ISBN 0739024183.

Light, graceful and lyrical playing can be reinforced with this delightful solo by June Montgomery. The A section features a left-hand descending waltz bass line with a sequential right-hand melodic line reminiscent of butterflies fluttering in the garden. The B section offers a nice contrast with a slightly faster tempo and change of key from F major to A minor. The A section returns in the key of C making this piece a good study of major and relative minor keys.

Not The Twilight Butterfly Waltz

A nice simple song but not the Butterfly Waltz I was hoping for. The bridal processional Butterfly Waltz is by Brian Crain and can be found on his website. Still worth the purchase.

Wrong but Right

I thought I was buying the same title by another composer so it wasn't what my student wanted. But this piece is very nice too so I'll use it with another student.

A Great Piece!

This piece is a hit. It's easy enough to many people to play, but it really sounds like something! It's got an ABA form with a nice running line that develops in the A sections, and a separate line in the B. It's hard to find pieces this satisfying at...
