Brazilian Nights - Score by Robert Woods. Jazz ensemble. Jazz Basics Series. Jazz. Grade 1. Score. Published by Heritage Music Press (LO.60-1241H).
This is music at the Grade 1 jazz level that correlates with specific units in the Jazz Basics improvisation method, as well as with Jamey Aebersold's Volume 1: Jazz: How to Plan and Improvise. It is performance music that works with flexible instrumentation requiring as few as four horns and piano, bass and drums. Each piece includes a CD with the full performance as well as solo practice tracks. All the rhythm section parts are fully notated and include chord symbols. This latin rock composition used the import ii7 - V progression in the solo section which allows the young soloist to use one scale as the basis for their improvisation. The ensemble parts are well-crafted and flow naturally.
