Brazilian Jazz Guitar a "must have"
A must have book if you are in to Bossa Nova. Very few books have verse, solo and rhythm examples.

Brazilian, Magic
All those wonderful melodies in one book, easy to follow and easy on the ear, although, I would not consider the arrangements by no way jazzy! but thats perhaps up to the guitarist. the guitar playing on the CD was useful.. but, lamentable. As someone else put it,memorize these peices and make them your own, Great value.

welcome to Brazil
An enjoyable way to learn about the beautiful and pleasing sound of Bossa Nova which means (new thing)Bosa is the hump on the back of a bull which sways back and forth like the easy beat of the samba or bosa nova.

Interesting Approach
This book takes the curious but innovative approach of providing 2 arrangements for each tune; one is a solo arrangement combining melody and chords and the other is purely for comping. While unusual, it has the distinct advantage of preparing the player for doing these songs alone and also in the context of a duet or small formation with another guitar or another melody instrument. This is a very powerful and flexible way of learning songs on guitar. The tunes in the book can be considerred the essentials of bossa-nova and provide the foundation for building a good set of music in performance.

I like this book!
I picked up on my new hero, Luiz Bonfa, at an mp3 site and remembered that my goal in life at some point (musician with ADD and short term memory loss ... :) was to learn Brazilian Jazz Guitar. Then I remembered buying the "fingerstyle Jobim" book with the yellow edges. So, I got that book out and quickly remembered why I lost interest ... yuck, that book stinks. Fortunately I went ahead and bought this book. Whoo-hoo! Now I can play killer latin jazz and astound my family and friends! I sound like a master, but I'm just an old drummer. (rhythm may be helping me out a little) Oh, one thing ... The included CD doesn't sound very authentic. Here's the fix ... Internalize the transcriptions and make them your own. Change it up and put your own feel into it. C'mon man ... So, buy this book and you will learn to play these songs. No weird transcriptions, odd arrangements, or "life-changing" methods. Just the means to play the songs. I like this book!
