Lacks actual teaching and instruction
The "so called instructor" - Mat Gurman is certainly a fine player but does little to nothing to impart his knowledge and skills onto the student. This DVD is more of a self-gratuitous portfolio of Mat's skills with a little - and I mean VERY LITTLE specific instructions on how to play a blues rock guitar. I fast-forwarded through Mat's "so called lessons" (NOT) - and was done with this "instructional DVD" in about 20 minutes picking up a few licks here and there but it was certainly not worth the price of admission! There are far better instructional DVD's out there. I'd steer clear of this one.

Feelings and Blues
Mr. Gurman is an excellent teacher and this DVD is worth buying. He's the first guitar DVD teacher I've come across who emphasizes that 'The Blues' by definition is about feelings. You have to, hear, feel and experience the song you want to create before you can play it well. A very simple fact that many guitar players overlook. Mr. Gurman's examples of different artists styles are excellent. He gave a short example of one of Eric Clapton's songs that I was able to begin to play almost immediately. Well worth the price. It's ok
Generally a good DVD. Exploring the different styles of various artist was very interesting. However even though it is not mandatory it would be helpful to be familiar with music theory when viewing this DVD. Mr. Gurman discusses theory in detail and I was a little lost. I am a typical guitar player that plays by ear!

Great instruction and covers many styles
The "Gurmanator" did a great job with this title. If you have been looking for a dvd to help you phrase and add new dynamics to your improvisation skills this is it. I've watched many video/dvd's and rate this one as one of the best in the blues/rock solo category! Matt covers: tone, attack, phrasing, style..... highly recommended.
