The American pianist and composer Cy Coleman (New York, 1929) is certainly best known as the author of several musical comedies such as 'Wildcat' (1960), 'Little me' (1962), 'Sweet Charity' (1966), 'Seesaw' (1973), 'I love my Wife' (1977) and of course 'Barnum' (1978). He also composed a lot of film music and several songs, such as 'Hey look me over'. 'Big Spender' illustrates Coleman's talent as creator of fine melodies. Many will recognize this one, very skilfully arranged for wind band by the German composer Josef Hastreiter.
