"Big Book of Latin American Songs"--my opinion:

The Big Book of Latin American Songs has dozens of Latin American songs in it. Don't expect 100% satisfaction with all songs--some of them I never heard of before and didn't "miss anything". Most of them, however, date back to my childhood (to the 40's) when I was starting to play the piano. I will guarantee you a 50% satisfaction rate. The song San Antonio Rose has been a life-long favorite of mine and I'm glad I was able to signt read it.

Great book for all musicians

I purchased this book 'Big Book of Latin American Songs' for a friend who plays the flute and piano because I had asked her if she knew the song, 'Maria-Elena', which is one of my favorites. I was then surprised to find in the book a song my dad wrote, called, 'Cuban Pete', a song he wrote in 1936 and is still bringing residuals to my mother today. I do recommend the book as it has a lot of the older and authentic latin- American songs, words and music. I will consider you in the future for more musical material. Sincerely, Alex Norman

The Truth

This is definitely not a beginners book as suggested by the first reviewer. Neither is it an extremely advanced book. Rather it is solidly ranked in the middle. A few years of experience will have you ready to play it but don't expect to play these songs as a first year student. The songs are all well known popular songs of yester year and very pleasurable. I highly recommend it as a nice Latin music book for anyone with a reasonable ability to play.

Good for starters

I do not feel qualified to write a review because i have not been playing that long but I would surmise to say that the book contains a selection of songs suitabe for the novice musician.

Latin American Songbook is a must!

This book should be in everyone's music library that loves to play latin music. The arrangements are complete. They can be used as performance pieces,or for singing along with at parties,or as part of a music lesson. It's just a fun book to sit down and play.
