THE TITLE IS PERFECT.
I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE WORDS WEREN'T PART OF THE SONG BOOK. EVEN THOUGH BELOW THE TITLE ON THE PAGE REFLECTED WORDS AND MUSIC BY BILLY JOEL. I IMMEDIATELY ORDERED THE " PAPERBACK SONGS-BILLY JOEL" WHICH HAD THE WORDS FOR MY FAVORITE SONG- "ALL ABOUT SOUL"

Best of billy Joel - Piano Solos
Beautiful - perfect for a quick start to playing great songs. Wish that this collection had more of his songs, but other than that, it's perfect!

too simplistic
Billy Joel's music and lyrics are great. Simplifying the music unfortunately does not do it justice

"Best of Billy Joel" Arrangements
These arrangements suited my purpose just fine. I've been playing piano over 60 years, and always liked Billy Joel. I didn't particularly want to work hard at learning to play them; I just wanted to be able to sight-read through and enjoy myself. They are somewhat simplified, but that's fine with me. I'm not going to use them for performances; however, if I want to, I can embellish these arrangements. The repeats and codas, etc. are tricky, but that's what the magic markers are for. By the way, I bought the book because I wanted to play "My Life." It's a decent enough arrangement.

Not What I Expected
Most are modified versions of his songs. I really bought this for Piano Man, and that piece was definately not the original...

Pretty good
Most of the songs in this book sound decent, though they could use a more complex accompaniment. I was able to play most of the songs perfectly the first time, but they are challenging enough to sound good for a performance. The notes are easy to read, but the codas and returns are IMPOSSIBLE to follow. Unless you mark your music impeccably, you get halfway through the song and have no idea where to go. This is the best solo piano Billy Joel book I have found, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wide array of Billy Joel songs.

Melody/arrangments
Good selection of tunes from throughout his career. The font for the book is legible. A must for Billy Joel Fans! My only complaint is that not all of his hits are in this book!

Great
Some of my favorite Billy Joel tunes in the same book. Doesn't sound exactly like he plays, but then again, I'm not Billy Joel (: Great for Fans of Billy!

Not good
I was expecting this book to have more complete versions of songs. Compared to other Billy Joel books I have I would say some songs are ok, and some simply dont compare to other versions, eg Piano man sounds good closer to the original then other books but She's always a woman I hate, Allentown I hate etc. I think for somone that wants to play Billy Joel stuff and play rock an roll this book will be dissapointing for you.

Great Book
This Book Is prett wonderful. One of my Favroite songs is Allentown and that arrangment had fullnes and everyone thought I was playing a really hard song when I was only playing a song easier than what they thought I was playing.

arrangements lack fullness
Because it is "piano solo" I expected the arrangements to be full and interesting. Instead it seems a lot of melody is simply one note, indicating you might want to improvise/add to it. Which isn't what I expect piano solo music to be like. I have an arrangement of Baby Grand to compare, for example, and it is just beautiful and rich compared to the one in this book. Though the book is OK, it is not as good as I expected; I was quite disappointed.

Billy Joel Music
I think the Billy Joel arrangements for the most part were absolutely great, especially Piano Man! The only thing I was bothered by were a few goof ups in the writing of the music. We all know who to blame though... HAL LEONARD!

Excellent!!
Exactly what i was looking for. The real accompniament sheet music for all the well known pieces and also a small bit of melody included in each piece making them easily recognisable to listeners. Perfect for performing
