This one works
This is an excellent book to start on for modern improvisation, but is not for total beginners. The real value in this book is that it is the first of a series of books that will take you all the way to true improvisation in jazz. It is possible to pick and chose what you want to learn from this books (4), but trust me, sooner or later you will need it all. These are not books for people who want to learn it all in a month. These are books for people who will work at it. I have all four, and find no weaknesses. Worth what they cost. I teach, and these books really help my students
