Funk-Rock Bass solos
I have been looking for a long time for some examples of good bass solos within the rock/funk-rock genre- the bass solo in RHCP's "Aeroplane" is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not terribly conversant with the RHCP's repetoire, but as a keen amatuer/self-taught bassist of about 13 years, I couldn't go past studying something of Flea's basslines and techniques at some time or other. There is a paucity of bass solo material outside of the jazz, acid jazz or funk realms. Access to an accurate transcript in both TAB and standard notation (together with a CD recording) of "Aeroplane" is a real gem for anyone interested in learning or getting ideas about good rock/funk-rock bass solos. I for one was very pleased to have found this material to have been so easily available.

VERY GOOD
this book is a great value for the price. the tabs are acurate plus u get a ice background and breakdown of each song. this booki is helpping get so much better. the cd is nice to play along with although it doesn't actually break it down or slow down certain difficult spots, it does break it up in chorus, verse, bridge, etc. definately good for someone who is more than a beginner but not intermeidiate but wants to take that next step

This book is really good. If your into the chili pepps or even rock or funk its a must get. It really is an eye opener. Ive been playing for a year and a half and this book has helped me alot. My friend who is just starting, within a month of playing, it had really helped him. A MUST GET for any bass player.

beginner prelude
The book is definitely a good one for anyone who is looking for a challenge and a fun way to look at funk rock. The song selection is great, spanning their entire career and flea lines. However, the songs are not complete, although most of them are here, they lack fills and such. There is definitely room for improvement in that area. A nice detail in the book are the liner notes all over the place that explain to you the different parts of the songs and provide some historical background. Nonetheless, if you are a devoted RHCP fan and consider Flea your idol, I recommend you buy the transcriptions of each individual albums for a better experience.

PLEASE
NO ONE WILL EVER BE AS GOOD AS FLEA. You can indeed learn his techniques and methods, but will you turn into flea? Not in a 1000 years.

RHCP greatest hits collection for bass
This book contains a variety of old and new RHCP songs including one you won't find anywhere else. The book is full of chili pepper history, and breaks down fleas patented slapbass technique. While this book doesn't include song structure, or bass fills it includes a cd which is very helpful in play the more difficult selections. The cd also sets the tempos

You too can be as good as Flea.
If you like Red Hot Chili Peppers and you play bass then you will love this step by step break down of Flea's bass style. I enjoy this tab book very much and I think you will too. Plus it comes with a CD so you can hear what you are about to learn.
