A guideline

I'm giving it three because it depends on what you want. If you want an exact transciption, you're dreaming and the closest your going to get is the Transcription in the "Ray Charles: a Man and his Soul" book, [editor's note sku is WB.TPF0144 ]- taking out a few chords. If you want a simpler less accurate version to improvise off of and make your own, this is perfect. If you've got soul, get this one. If you rely on music and play like a machine making you absolutely no use to the musical community buy the other book. I'm not saying the book is bad, I'm just mad at those who complain about less accurate transcriptions. The book is great, as is this to anyone who actually plays.

Brilliant Style and Collaboration

As a practicing song writer, recording artist, and musician I find that Billy Joel is a writer like no other. The power of Ray Charles and Billy Joel's vocal abilities paired with their amazing skills with the piano, combine to make a smokey, piano bar sound. If you delve into the text, you'll find the classic blues lyrics that reminisce of a time when blues was highly recognized and music meant something. As far as performing vocally, Alto 1 and 2 would not have too much of a problem singing, but the octave jump is too high for sopranos and inexperienced male singers would have problems with the minor key. Aside from that, this piece is expertly collaborated and although composed by Billy Joel, it is most definitely a Ray Charles song, as you will notice when played or sung. This song is mellow, cool and great for performing and wowing and audience with pianistic abilities and style.

sigh

i am sick of piano music incorparating the Vocal line into the piano part. why can't they just sell what the artist himself played i mean really the intro and the ending are exact but the rest of the song is ONLY the vocal with a couple extra notes to fill it out. get billy joels keyboard book that's perfect although it doesn't have this song in it.
