Antiphonal Celebration by Timothy Loest. For concert band. FJH Developing Band. Full set (score and parts). Score only also available: B1310S. Grade 1.5. Score and set of parts. Composed 2006. Duration 2:30. Published by The FJH Music Company Inc (FJ.B1310).
Antiphonal Celebration is based on the tune Llanfair by Welsh composer Robert Williams (1781-1821). Llanfair follows a simple form (AABA), which is common to 19th century Welsh hymn tunes. The title Antiphonal Celebration describes the nature of this piece. It is a joyous festival work that utilizes a technique known as antiphony. Antiphony occurs when the trumpet section states a question phrase. The band then replies with an answer phrase.
