Andante and Rondo Ungarese Viola and Piano by Carl Maria von Weber Piano Accompaniment - Sheet Music

By Carl Maria von Weber

Weber wrote Andante e Rondo ungarese per l'Alto Viola Solo with Gran Orchestra for his brother Fritz in Ludwigsburg. At the end of his manuscript there is the remark: 'Completed the 18th of October 1809'. Later he 'completely recast' the piece for bassoon, as he wrote. Friedrich Wilhelm Jahns, a researcher of outstanding merit, discovered the score of the Viola Concerto with the Berlin Kapellmeister Semler, who had inherited it from his father, the famous violist Franz Xaver Semler. This first publication is based on Weber's autograph preserved at the Berlin State Library.

Excellent

Great suggested bowings and fingerings. This piece deserves more recognition!

A great piece!

I have fallen in love with this piece over the past few months and will perform it for my conservatory/university auditions and a concerto competition in the coming weeks. It is one of the few viola pieces I have found that is enjoyable for both the soloist and the accompanist and is challenging but also very beautiful. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone ready to take on college-level repertoire
