Alot of wrong stuff
Espeically on the Blackened and Shortest Straw tabs. Come on, they say the whole song of Blackened has NO palm muting except for the middle slower part. My a--! Almost every Met song has serious palm muting. Alot of wrong notes in the Blackened tab also.

Use only as a partial reference
This book is horrible! It has so many mistakes in just about every song. As another reviewer said, the opening riff in Blackened is just completely wrong. And come on, E major chords in Harvester of Sorrow? Are you kidding me? The tab'ers should be ashamed of themselves. Use this book as a basic guide, but try to figure out some parts yourself.

PPL say it sux at parts, but it helps
"This book helped me understand what I needed to about playing Metallica, and yes it may get a bit confusing, but in the end, it's worth it."

good but, confusing in some parts
It is a good book but i dont think the "note for note transcriptions" is always right. but if you listen closely you can get it.

More or less
I am a big metallifan but this tab book is not all that. Its not all bad but some parts are wrong. I still would say get the tab book then listen to the album then work to figure out what is screwed up. YOu have to use your ears to get past the mistakes

Book and Album are both incredible
The cd is the best i've heard. This book shows you what you need to be able to play the songs on the album.

Good Tab Book
This book is fantastic, yet very challenging. Most of the rhythm guitar parts were not as hard as I thought they would be to play, but all the solos require very fast triplets. OK, everyone seems to be writing about the 'Blackened' tab, so I will contribute my opinion. The intro is correct, but you need to have someone else play the 2nd guitar to make it sound right. The riff at 0:37 sounds okay, but the really fast part of it is a little hard to hear on the CD, so I can't be sure about it. Other than that, it is very accurate. This book is well worth the time.

Great Album, Not So Good Book
The album itself is some of their best work and includes some of the hardest material to play (exp. Frayed ends of sanity guitar solo) The blackened transcription puts the song to disgrace, the verse is done really hald heartidly, besides that, a very good book. Best metallica album ever.

wow
This is a bad tablature book. Most and not just some of the riffs are wrong. The first blackened riff is either over simplified or just totally wrong, steer clear.

And good tabs for all
This is my fav Metallica album and the second tab book I got(the first being the black album) this is definetly a step or two above in difficulty! It's easy to get frustrated on parts, but it's all here in black and white. This is a hard hitting album that's great to jam along with the 8 and 9 minute guitar crunching epics. Have fun! I know I did.(And still do!)

Heavy Metal Domination
This book is awesome. It contains the full songs, and all of the tablature is 100% correct. However, the solos and even a couple of the riffs are very challenging. If you're a Metallica fan, I wouldn't recommend starting out trying to play this album. Either way, if you have the patience and skill, learning this album is very rewarding and well worth your time.

Hard Hard but FUN FUN
I disagree with the rest of the ppl that talks about the blackened part. If you really listen closely to the CD; it does make sense. The only thing is that the dude who transcript this book, forgot to mantion that kirk uses a Pitch shifter on most solos. If you dont have a pitch shifter, then youll be stuck but it will be really good challenge. although there really small mistakes that im sure anybody will be able to fix them..nobodys perfect!

good album....not so good book
i've ran into this in many of metallica's books, the tabs arent so accurate and the lyrics are written in a very sloppy way that hard to understand...its almost exhausting trying to figure it out. the album itselves is one of their best tough.

...And Justice Rules!
The very beginning of "Blackened" is dead on, but the part where it gets heavy (just after the fade-in) doesn't make sense. It also should be 100% tablature and not notes because people that teach themselves with books won't understand. Other than that this book is perfect! Although I must say nothing beats Master of Puppets.

Good but not Perfect
The songs are generally good but like everybody else I noticed the Tab for "Blackened" was done really half-assed. Also they are missing 2 additional guitar parts in the harmony part before the big triplet riff in "One"

not 100% accurate tab
the guys that transcribed this book do not know what they are doing, the blackened riff and dyers eve riff are way off, beleive me also some of the solos are way off,it pisses me off that these books are advertised as "note for note" because they are not,if you guys check out kirk hammett's "sound and fury" collum IN GUITAR WORLD a couple of months ago you will see that the tab that he transcribed for the ultra fast riff in dyers eve is far different then in the tab book, its actualy alot easier then what it has been transcribed as in the book,my suggestion would be to buy the 1983-1988 and 1988-1996 series of books whitch come with cd's with slowed down versions of hammetts freakishly fast lead playing, although not every song is tabbed its really accurate, have fun!!!

This is my fav tab book
It seems every time that I pick this book, there is always something new that I'm learning. This is a masterpiece by Hetfield and Hammett. This isn't unusual for Metallica. This book is a must have for every guitar player if you are looking for a good challenge. And I also think that it was very will transcribed.

amazing!!!!!!!!!!
this isn't metallica's best album, but it is still decent quality, and as crucial as "kill em all" and "ride the lightning." the tab is good, but i agree with that person who said the "blackened" tab was slightly weird, oh well, i advize people to learn all the guitar techniques like shredding and tapping before they get this book, or they will be lost!

Almost Perfect
My only complaint is the first riff off of "Blackened." The dude who transcribed that must have smoked some crucial crack, because it makes no sense. Every other song is flawless though. This is Metallica's most crucial cd.

Flawless transcriptions!
Flawless transcriptions make this a must have for the Metallica fan! As the guitarist I am, the coolest thing in the world is to learn songs and their solos note for note and these tab books certainly save me a lot of trouble. These Cherry Lane/Hal Leonard books are always right!
