A;lfreds Teach Yourself to play the Blues

I have several other books in this Alfred series. I bought the book for getting more song examples for understanding playing the Blues. The examples are progressive where they start out very basic and then add more to the song examples as the book progresses. This book shows actual small song blues examples where other books just show small blues patterns to play. Book is 77 pages of various song examples. More intended for the intermediate keyboard player that wants to learn some different song concepts of the blues. Key signatures of all the songs in this book are very easy- C,F,Bb, and G. They have a very good backing track CD (46 tracks)to play along with the various song examples. So if you want to play allot of song examples to get the feel of blues style of playing, this book might be for you. pianomanDT

Alfred's Teach Yourself To Play Blues

Fun to play the groovy pieces with the 46 track CD. A good book for piano students to learn different styles of blues along with blues scales, chords and progressions.

Not for advanced players

If you have done even some advanced training as a child, this is not for you. But it is good, very good for the advanced novice who lacks special skills

Finally a Blues Book that works

I tried several books that were supposed to get you into blues piano. Most were as dull as the old fashioned boring piano lessons I hated years ago. As an adult, and recently starting to play again, I found this book to be just right. The CD is a big help, the pieces really sound nice and I am having fun - which to mind mind is what music should be about.

blues improvement

an excellent and easy to follow study of the true blues, Each study within the book contained challenging test pieces with all the true bluesy sounds incorporated within the course. For anyone interested in learning keyboard blues this book I can recommend as a good starting point.
