Main Cirriculum of my Piano Studio
I've been teaching piano for over 10 years. The last four years I've been using "Alfred's Basic Piano Course" as the main curriculum of my studio and I've been very pleased. I've had experience with Bastien and Faber as well, but Alfred continues to be my favorite. I like the simple, uncluttered lay-out of the pages and the pictures are entertaining but not dominating. I have been very pleased with all the other books in the Alfred Series, but I find that this Level 3 has some tough pieces at the beginning of the book that many of my students struggle with (Hence the 4 star review). The pieces at the end of this book are great, though, and possibly easier than the ones at the beginning. I would give this book 5 stars if it removed the pieces that are not for beginning level-3 or moved them to later in the book.

Satisfied customer
I am an older beginner and have enjoyed level two and three so far. The practice songs are excellent. very up dated and lots of variety. The lessons are written simple and very artfully. I will continue to take lessons from your books.

Great!
This series has been great, I've been working with it for 5 out of my 8 year experience. I only wish it was a bit more challenging, and introduced more classical pieces. There is a set of classical pieces in the Masterworks Collection, but it only goes up to level 3. Don't get me wrong though, this series is still very good, and it incorporates various techniques and methods in which to learn to play. Also preps you for larger and more challenging pieces.

I want more!
I learned piano with this series and I LOVE it!! I only wish that there were higher levels. I'm done with lv. 6, and would buy a more advanced book simply because I know this series selects wonderful songs that are fun to play.

This book contains great pieces
This book really challenges the student, as any intermediate book does. The player moves all around the keyboard, rather than staying in positions, like level 1 and much of level 2. Note-reading ability really comes into play in this level. The material is very nice. Some of the best: On Top of Old Smoky, Light and Blue, Roman Holiday, Greensleeves, Go Down Moses, Scarborough Fair, and Fandango---a Spanish piece that's beautiful and fun. Recommend for ages 9 or 10 and up.
