Great 1st Book

This is an excellent single book for the learn-by-yourself types. Although nothing can replace personal instruction, overall, this book does a good job getting one started playing recognizable songs and comes with a great CD. For each song, there is clear tablature and two tracks on the CD - you can choose to play with or without harmonica accompanyment. The single disadvantage to this book is that it is a little light on proper mouth positioning and how to get clear, single notes. That said, this is still an inexpensive option to start playing the harmonica.

For absolute beginners

This book is great for beginners who want to know how to read music notation. Ofcourse it contains easy tablatures for the not intersted in reading music noatation. It describes all the the essential techniques to play the instument and the cd provided is really helpful because you can hear the song so you know how it should sound.the only problem is that the songs that this book contains are so baby songs mpiah!!!and that might makes you to leave the book and never open it ( like I did-it worked for my little cousin).I reccomend the book for kids but not for adults who want to learn blues techniques jazzy songs or they just wanna rock with their harp
