Hofhaimer, a blind organist contemporary of Heinrich Isaac, was one of the leading composers of secular music in Germany around 1500. PERFORMANCE:These pieces can be performed in several ways: 1) with the tenor part sung, and the other parts played on viols or rebecs, or on wind instruments of 8-foot pitch. 2) with all parts sung 3) with all the parts played on recorders (ATTB), viols (TrTTB), or cornetto and sackbuts. If the tenor can be played on a contrasting instrument, so much the better.
