    Fremont, CA
    Difficulty Level:
  • April 04, 2013 Messy, overly difficult arrangement

There is a major typo in the first six bars of the Alto part, where it seems that the arranger wants the alto player to hit low G's and F's...not possible. Additionally, the alto and tenor part in the third movement regularly jumps into high G's...

and A'...on pianississimo ostinatos!! I don't see why the arranger didn't just have them double instruments. Additionally, for almost the entirety of the piece the soprano part is in the stratosphere. My quartet tried to read through even the easiest, and we couldn't make heads nor tails. And it's not like the rest of our repertoire is babyish, either! Here we are, a quartet regularly workin the Copland, Nyman, Glass, having a hard time with a bunch of minute long Bagatelles! The bottom line is that there are far better pieces out there to show off your virtuosity with, don't bother with this one.
