"I think the series is good, but would have appreciated knowing the contents before I purchased the books. "

"Almost worthless because songs are played WAY too fast. Also, rhythm is not kept steady so it is very difficult to count. Ritardando and fermata seem to be at pianist's discretion rather than as indicated by composer or convention. Thirdly, phrasing does not make sense and, in places where an obvious breath is indicated for the singer, no consideration is given. The pianist has obviously never been a singer."

"I teach beginning vocal majors and have purchased many music anthologies and books over the years. This continues to be my favorite anthology for my freshmen and sophomore students. It introduces them to well-known composers of various eras, showing their most beloved works, but remaining within a reasonable vocal range. It's a vocal literature class in addition to a music anthology. The accompaniment cds are helpful to the student because for those who are not proficient at the piano, it allows them to select pieces based on their enjoyment of hearing the accompaniment. It allows them to be able to decide for themselves a piece they would like to perform rather than the teacher choosing everything, which in turn encourages the self-motivation necessary to the vocal major. My favorite anthology and at a very excellent price."

"These folk songs are ideal for the beginning vocalist. The arrangements are very interesting as well which makes these songs usable for performance!"
