  • April 28, 2011 one negative

This is an addendum to a review I did earlier . . . one negative I found is that most of the numbers are written in flats, from one to six flats which is great training, but only a few in no flats and only one with one sharp. I need practice in...

one to four sharps as well. But, I still like playing these exercises, better than other similar books I've purchased.

  • January 17, 2011 A really good one . . .

Very nicely done book for improving technique and has pieces that really sound good to play. It will improve range and technique, and if you can play to the suggested metronome rate, you're quite a player! Love this book.

  • February 19, 2009 Chops needed!

very repetitive, rhythmically. Really just exercises - not musical at all. Boring compared to the Vocalises of Conconne and Bordogni.

  • January 07, 2009 Bass Trombonists take note.

Although these studies are written for the tuba, they also make for great bass trombone studies. These exercises will get you think about alternate positions, good tone production - especially in the lower register- and keys that one might normally see. Another way to approach these studies (also for tuba) is...

to practice these works with alternate articulations. Only 61 years old, but still a very relevant collection of studies.
