"If you sing along with the book, it is a lot of fun, the lyrics are funny and clever. There are A LOT of accidentals but if you practice a lot it gets easier. I give the book only 3 stars because of the amount of repetition in some of the longer songs."

"I bought this for my 11 year old niece and she absolutley LOVES it. She even asked her teacher if she could play a piece at her upcoming recital and her teacher gave her the okay. My sister has thanked me because whenever my niece has finished dinner, lunch, chores, etc she's at the piano!"

"music is ok but odd. I ordered it for a student who loved the tunes and wanted to play them. The key signatures change right and left; she found this quite confusing."

"Tim Burton's first full-scale musical was both exactly what we all expected and a complete surprise. Elfman's music encompasses such a range of characters and styles that we are forced to realize that he is a truly brilliant songwriter. The fact that he sang the main role for the recording only astounds one more. His music for Halloweentown is characteristic Elfman (modulation-heavy, minor intervals upon minor intervals laced with "Dies Irae"), his Christmastown is bright, resembling a demented Mozart, his music for Oogie is bluesy and sinister, Sally recieves a touching ballad, and Elfman shows off a flair for dark comedy in the unexpected "Kidnap the Sandy Claws." Note: the instrumental from "Making Christmas" is cut, as are almost all harmony lines. Still, this slim volume is certainly worth it."

"Eb minor keys (that's 6 flats, folks) Cb7 chords, key changes and modulations every 4 bars, and "What's This" is entirely scored in 16th notes -- and it's all totally brilliant! Quite faithful to the soundtrack, Danny Elfman's Disney Gothic score is fun and surprisingly melodic. The constant changing of keys makes the otherwise simple rythmns a bit tough to navigate, but Elfman proves that he has a flair for Broadway theatrics. A must have on the shelf with O'Brien's Rocky Horror and Ashman/Menken's Little Shop of Horrors."

"i wish the music in the book better matched the music from the movie. i listen to the movie and then play a song and some of the notes are'nt the same. they should put out the original movie score or something."

"I have a lot of books to play from, but this is the only one I want to play right now! I think I'm stuck on it. My favorite, "Jack's Lament", that I love, makes me feel like I'm playing sooo well that I actually want someone to hear me play it. "
