"Brahms' music is hard to understand, loose, and sometimes complicated to understand. Some of his songs are non-melodic, which is not what we are used to hearing. Brahms music is impossible to humm. It can get complex; the parallel arpeggios, but it is still pretty to listen to, and very impressive."

"Brahms' pieces are always difficult to understand. Yet, once you get the mood, you will just love it. This collection include almost all of the best solo piano pieces wiritten by Brahms. If you want to try Brahms but do not know where to start with, try this one first. The crazy variations are not included in this editions. Hence I rate it as Intermediate only."

"Brahms music is over-thinked,over-pathetic, over-complicated, unoriginal and boring!!! Try Liszt or Chopin, and remeber Mozart and Beethoven are forever!! "

"This volume has many of Brahm's best solo piano works - "Rhasodies" Op 79 1&2, the beautiful "Intermezzi" Op 117&118, plus more. Like all Schirmer editions, I had a print shop cut the edge and replace it with a rolled wire binder so the music will sit flat."
