3 Gymnopedies and 3 Gnossiennes
I did not like the left hand transposed in the right hand as it was difficult to read. The yellow Schirmer's Gnossiennes and Gymnopedies are easier to read.

Satie 3 Gymnopedies & 3 Gnossiennes
This publication is difficult to read because the left hand is written in the treble cleft (as if for the right hand) verses being written in the bass cleft. I recommend purchasing the yellow-covered Schirmer's "Library of Musical Classics" for Satie Thjree Gymnopedies and also Three Gnossienes (also sold on this website) as it is much easier to read and play.

Lovely, ambient, not too difficult...
I studied piano as a child, did not play for 25 years. Six years ago I took up playing piano again under guidance of a concert pianist. If you like Satie, I recommend this book. I play Gymnopedie No. 1, and all three Gnossiennes in this book. I recently played some Satie solos for a party crowd and for my church. I received a lot of positive feedback about my playing.

erik satie
I bought this music specifically for the Gnossienne #1. While it is wonderful, the others are delightful also; so it is serendiptious. I sometimes have to buy an entire book for the lone piece I want but this turned into a happy coincidence. These pieces would be good for piano students, also.

A modern classic
Satie is amazing, and the selections are some of his most well known pieces. Every person for which I have played the first of three Gnossiennes have recognized and loved it. I highly reccommend this book as an introduction to Satie.

Overlooked
How nice to have all these sometimes overlooked pieces together plus a recording. They are beautiful and accessible for an adult looking for serenity and they are wonderful for a teacher working on sound production. The later Gnossiennes are a little more difficult but also beautiful as they expand harmonies and notational reading. The accompanying CD will also be helpful in creating the style.

Almost any level of pianist can enjoy this book
I am a very average pianist who easily and happily played the beautiful pieces in this music book. I recommend it highly.

The best Gymnopedie/Gnossienne anthology
I have been playing piano for a long time, but just recently started bying music not required for Royal Conservatory. Before this book I played internet-printout copies of these fabulous pieces, and I now know what I was missing. These pieces are absiolutely conderful, and this is the best book of them. As well, the performance tips and biography of Satie are added bonuses. Buy this book! You won't regret it!
