This innovative guitar method contains all styles of music including rock, pop, folk and classical. Tablature is used as an aid in learning new material, and suggested accompaniment parts enable the teacher and student to play together. The unique Rock Workshop sections teach rock rhythm and lead guitar styles and are correlated to the Guitar Rock Shop books. Available with or without a play-along recording. Book 1 includes reading music in first position, all basic chords, strumming, eighth note rhythm, power chords, the blues form, basic rock rhythm, guitar techniques, and pop songs such as: Surfin' Safari * Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain * Old Time Rock and Roll.

About 21st Century Guitar Course

This hugely popular basic guitar method series includes numerous supplements (theory workbook, ensembles, song books and a supplemental rock method). The available CD includes full instruction plus full demonstration and play-along tracks. Level 1 lays a foundation with note reading and chords and includes teacher duet parts to encourage the student and teacher to perform together. TAB is used to make learning chords, accompaniments, riffs and other stylistic guitar parts easy and fun, standard music notation is used for melodic playing. Level two goes deeper into common guitar genres such and rock and blues and also introduces applied music theory, chord and scale construction and fretboard understanding. Recommended for 8 years old and up.

    Aaron Stang has a unique method of teaching. He clearly/simply explains things in ways that beginners are able to understand but also intermediate players could easily pick up tricks from this volume.
