150 of the most beautiful songs ever, 3rd edition
I love the songs - the book is too big to handle. I had to tear it apart and make scrap book pages in order to take it to places where I play. I use it every time I play for older people, because they remember the songs. It's what I was looking for!

So, so
I should have listened to the reviewer who critiqued the book with regard to size and the expanding of scores to include more pages than necessary. Some of the songs I have in other collections so I know more compact printing is possible. Also, I immediately had the spine split and turned it into two books each bound by spiral. Selections are great...some simplified more than I'd like, but book in its present form is very unhandy.

150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever(3rd Edition)
Love all the songs. The book is at least an inch thick, so it won't stay open very well for the first quarter inch of the songs in the book. I'll keep playing and "break the spine" in...surely wish it were spiral or in 2 books. But, I'm keeping it!

Good investment
This book is well worth investing in - no musical collection would be complete without it. Although, it is not for the modern player - the bulk of the songs are from the 1920's to 50's. So obvioulsy some of them are pretty basic tunes and stuff. Still if you want beautiful music en masse then this is the book to get alright

I love this book.
After a very long time away from piano, I purchased this, and it got my playing again. Some are quite easy, others more challenging, but overall I like most of the songs and can play them. I just wish I could find another book like this with more songs. I don't care for books that aren't piano only because then I run into trouble and get mixed up. Also, this book will lie flat after broken in, and I don't find it to be too heavy.

Title is very true...songs are truly beautiful.
I'm a trumpet player. I play duets with a friend who plays keyboard. The pieces are just right for us to transpose. I love having the lyrics.

This book is a GREAT investment
I have had this book for a while now and what I love about it is that there are still new songs to discover! Because it has so many selections it is impossible to get to know all of them at once. Last night while I was flicking through it I discovered one I'd never played before or heard of, and I've had this book for at least a year! This book is a great investment and you will never tire of picking it up, because there is always another song waiting to be discovered. Such relaxing music too - it truly is beautiful!!!

Great collection
While I never expect everything in a large anthology to be of interest to me, at least 75% of this book is great, and the price is certainly right.

150 Most Popular Songs
This is a nice list of songs to play from. The arrangements are adequate and easily played. The choice to bind these books is a total dissapointment. You aren't going to tote this book out and fumble through the pages to play anywhere. When I went to cpoy the pages and put them into a binder, they were too big to scan. Many songs are just too many pages. All in all, I just wish the folks at Hal-Leonard would think more of the performing musicians and bind these collections in user friendly formats.

150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever
This book is a total turnoff as it is 150 pages and weighs about 5 + pounds. It could have been broken down to 3 books to make it easy to use. Some songs cover 4 pages and are written for 2 guitars. The 4 pages could be whittled down to 2 facing pages for 1 guitar. Will not buy any of the additional versions. I'm an advanced beginner.

Most Beautiful Songs
Great book. It's a stroll down memory lane from past to not so distant past. Songs from Broadway, movie themes, Disney, the Beatles, and popular records. Some fairly easy to others that are more challenging. Only downfall is the size (thickness) of the book. I'm taking mine to the local copier/print store where they can slice off the spine and 3-hole punch it for a binder. Easier to keep the pages under control.

150 Most Beautiful Songs Ever- 3rd Ed
Excellent and beautiful arrangements. I can play and entertain myself for hours. Also, friends can enjoy singing along. I also have the first edition that contains most of the songs. The first has a few the 3rd edition doesn't have and vice versa. So, I am happy to have both books. I love the beautiful chords and arrangements of the musical selections.

Disappointing
Got it for Christmas. Most pieces lack depth – poorly written. Many transposed to non-original key, such as Dan Fogelberg’s “Longer” original is “G” transposed all the way down to “C”. I’ll try to return it, if it’s worth paying the shipping to do so since this book is 1.25” thick.

Disappointing
Most of the titles have been transposed to another key and/or simplified – essentially taking the life out of them. A few examples: Some Day My Prince Will Come = written in same key as the “Disney Songbook” version, but lacks all the expressive chords and runs that give this piece impact. Longer = transposed from original “G” all the way down to “C” (it’s just horrible) I’m pretty sure Dan Fogelberg wasn’t a Tenor. My Funny Valentine = (yawn) written in same key, but expressively it falls flat on its face compared to the amazing version found in “The Very Best of Elvis Costello”. When You Wish Upon a Star = transposed from original “F” down to “C” In conclusion, I’d sooner carry around 12 pounds of well written, original keyed, music than this 3 pound waste of paper.

The best song book ever...
This is the best buy i have made so far from Sheet Music Plus...There is something for everyone here. Some of the songs have tricky timing but overall they are mostly quite easy to play after a few practices. There are loads of songs to choose from and they are mostly all old ones so that's sure to please your grandma. She will love you even more if you play these songs to her. Definitely buy this book if you are looking for some easy, relaxing songs to lull yourself into a sleepy mood at ten pm. You'll have the best night's sleep you've ever had.

good book
I got this book to do guitar accompanients for singers. So far I have only picked "Tennesse Waltz" and Yesterday. My guitar teacher has an easier version of "You light up my life" without key changes. The guitar chords are not too friendly (e.g. F) and the music is for soprano so I have to lower the keys quite a bit for my alto singer. I would say I cannot use the pieces directly from this book. Just to get an idea of the melody and chords so I can transpose them.

I need the right cords&melody
I was a little bit disappointed because in some of the songs, for example"Little Girl Blue"and"My Romance",original cords were entirely chaged. You might say "An arranger arranged the songs nicely", but I don't think so. In my opinion, arrangers should pay much regard to the original contents of the music when they arrange them for the sheet music book like this, otherwise goodness of the music would be spoiled, and it will be no longer a Richard Rodgers'song at that point.

I enjoy remembering each song as I play them on the piano. I am brought back to earlier times, when life was so much simpler. The compositions are simple and easy to read which makes it easy to improvise. Very enjoyable.

Best Collection of Songs
I previewed the 150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever at sheet music plus, and was thrilled to see that the majority of my favorite music was contained in this one book. I had individual sheet music of some of the songs, but how wonderfully convenient to have them together in one book, And yes, the book contains the most beautiful songs ever! I had been looking for the music for "My Romance" and was so happy to find it in this book. What a great investment!

Sweet Music
Returned to playing the piano after a 50 year hiatus and pleasantly surprised with the selections as well as the arrangements. Great stuff from the 1930's through the 1970's. Son suggested I get a job playing at the green room at the Holiday Inn. ( doubt there is one but, he was being nice) There's a lot of that type music in this book though. Mellow . I'm glad I bought it. GC

Outstanding & More Than Expected
I purchased the 150 Most Beautiful Songs Ever- 3rd addition and was pleasantly surprised.I can't seem to stay away from my piano, playing song after song. The songs are written very tastefully and not at a beginner level as a lot of songs are. These songs actually have depth to them and are very beautiful. They are very pleasing to the ear and yet not so difficult to play. They seem to fall within the intermediate to advanced level of playing, which is what I most enjoy. This book is a keepsake for sure and will be eventually passed down in the family.

My Best Note Book Ever
This is a wonderful note Book with lots of beautiful melodies. Unfortunately I have not played every one yet, because I bought a lot of other music notes at the same time. ( I love every one I bought) I play piano and keyboard, and the notes are very good but the chords are written too little -they are very difficult to read in distance - and I have to write every one bigger before I can play it, - what a shame.

Rich in number and rich in sound
The richness of this book wasn't at first obvious to me, because I'd come across some syncopation that was difficult for me, and therefore I couldn't slip easily into certain renditions. And then I came across "Georgia On My Mind" and everything fell into place. The timing here is terrific - jazzy and jerky and sophisticated. Some of the slower, more moody compositions - Yesterday When I Was Young (a lovely piece) and Moon River are a joy to play, and there are so many to choose from. It's my book of the moment.

Those Were The Days
As a small communith theatre in north central Maine, we are the only source of musical concerts or stage plays in the area. "150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever" has provided our Wayside Singers group with the music they need for their annual vocal evenings. They need a lot of material to construct a two hour cncert, and this book has just the kind of music they want to sing. While we do have an accomplished piano accompanist, the music would not be difficult for a less experienced pianist. We will enjoy this music for a long time!

Very pleased with this book!
The book I ordered, 150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever: Third Edition, is wonderful! I was concerned about the book staying open since it is not spiral bound, but it works nicely. The selection of songs is just what I was looking for - from Irving Berlin to Lennon and McCartney - and the level (moderately difficult) provides plenty of challenge as well as beautifully written music. I was impressed with how quickly my order was delivered (less than a week) and am very pleased with the service I received from Sheet Music Plus. Thanks for what I am sure will be many enjoyable hours at the piano! Dorothy Herman

Wonderful, Wonderful
I absolutely love this book. I used it Saturday night to play for residents at Lenoir Park Assisted Living where my mother resides. They loved the old standard songs and the arrangements were so good for my capability that I was able to add my own improvisions. I have bought another book from you (I think it is more advance intermediate than this one and although it has some beautiful songs they are a little harder for me to play. I wish I could find another book like "150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever"

Love this musicbook!
I wanted to buy a book of music that had many songs I love from over the last 75 years. 150 Most Beautiful Songs Ever delivered everything I wanted and more. The piano music isn't too hard or too simple and there are also guitar notes with every song! The words to songs from old jazz to modern rock fill the pages. Some of my favorite songs are included that I never thought I'd find. Comprehensive and playable, well worth the money!

This is a challenging collection of great pieces
After 40+ years away from the piano, I found several pieces that were familiar and therefore fairly easy to work out--others, especially with 6 sharps or 6 flats, many very high and very low notes and maybe not so familiar, I have found very difficult and set aside until I've mastered others. It's definitely a challenge.

A Music Lover's Dream
I have recently been volunteering an hour a week playing the piano for the residents of a local geriatric nursing home. 150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever has been "just the ticket" to entertain with. Many of the residents are familiar with the songs and clap the minute I walk in the door with my book. I literally spend hours a week playing (practice and performance) these songs~~they ARE Beautiful. Most songs can be played at first glance, others take some more work...but are well worth the effort. An excellent repertoire for the price.

This is positively the most delightful book of songs that I have come across. The arrangements are really pretty and interesting enough for the most discerning players. While the pieces might be challenging for beginners, the lovely sounds should be an incentive. This is definitely a book to grow into and keep at hand for many years to come. With 150 full songs in the book, the only problem I found was keeping the pages flat when I first started using it.

Beautiful old songs
I am generally satisfied by this book. Some arrangements are too easy or has too much chords, which are perfect for keyboard not for piano. I prefer arpeggios in songs for piano. Some of the songs are so old that I cannot recall.. Bookbinding is great, holds very well open while I'm playing.

wonderful collection
I love this book! It contains a great mix of older classics as well as more modern songs. There are also quite a few pieces from musicals, more than I expected. The arrangements in this book would be very difficult for a beginning pianist, and I think some of them would be difficult for intermediate players as well.

Nicest music all in one binder.
This is a lovely collections of love songs. I couldn't have put together a better collection of favorites! I play French Horn and I adapt the music for it. I recently started over after a 50 year hiatus from playing horn. So I'm working on it and it's fun to have music that's nice to play, not just excersises.

Fantastic song selection can't complain. But, the book is bound without a spiral so keeping the pages open is near impossible. Recommend this book be remanufactured with a user-friendly binding.

Thoroughly Enjoyable
I'm having the time of my life in my old age with all the beautiful songs in this publication. Most of the arrangements are lovely, a few (like the Beatle's music), don't interest me. But for the other 145 beautiful arrangements, I'm really enjoying. Can't wait to sit at the piano every chance I get.

Great Book
This is a must have book to have many standards. There are a few songs that made me think, "what the heck is this in here for". But 90% of the book is well worth getting the book for. I always see how many songs I have not seen before in other books I have bought, keys, difficulty factor, chord charts, etc... Over all this is the book to buy.

Songs for club singing
If you play for a club that likes a good sing-a-long session, or background music for a meal, this is the book for you. Your audience will be able to sing many of the songs, and will recognise most of the others. It is not padded with unfamiliar tunes. Also, somehow, they have made a book that stays open on the piano!

Great for old people.
Who ever put this collection together seems to have stopped listening to music of any kind about 20 years ago. And in addition to that, "beauty" is the word I'd use to describe the majority of the selections. "Sappy" seems to fit much better. There are maybe 2 or 3 songs in the entire bunch that I like and I consider my tastes to be quite broad. Bottom line is that the collection is aimed at only one type of person, so look through the song list first.

Review 150 Songs
I love the songbook. It has about 12 songs in it that I would want to play. I felt compelled to buy the book rather than resort to copying for my personal use just the 12 songs. I wanted the songwriters to get rewarded for their creativity. The book has many songs I wouldn't play, but it's still worth it. Nice arrangments.

I had not touched a keyboard in 20 years and was afraid I would not longer be able to read music....my husband bought me an electronic grand piano for Christmas and this was the first book I purchased. Satisfying
I can read individual notes, but not sheet music. I play entirely by ear and only in the key of C. I have a repertoire of over 200 songs already, but I was very happy with the book because it reminded me of several dozen songs I had forgotten and can now add to my list.

Nice Listening
My 14 year old daughter plays these. She plays them well, after just a moderate amount of practice. These are truly beautiful and familiar songs, the kind you can memorize and play in certain social occasions to everyone's delight. A great gift for accomplished pianists and older kids who take lessons. Parents will actually enjoy hearing your child practice these.

Great
There are so many great tunes, and songs I knew but never knew the title. There is one song called "Tammy", I recognized it right away - it was played in the movie Animal House on the piano during the Omega rush party scene. I've been looking for the name of that tune for ages, and here it is.

BLAST FROM THE PAST!
This book is a blast from the past -- the arrangements of songs from the 40's and 50's are my favorites. I grew up in a very musical household listening to my parents play piano and organ duets from that era. The songs have so many beautiful melodies and chords and the arrangements are so much fun to play. Our teenage son and daughter have fun singing along while I'm playing. It's my new favorite book.

Great collection
I play piano and sing at various events including performances at senior centers. I find this book an absolutely invaluable collection of genres from classics to more modern music. I have had great successes performing mostly from this book along with several of my original songs. For gigs requiring up to 1-1/2 hours I really don't need to bring any other music. I improvise quite a lot so for me having the chords, words and melody lines is fine. There are some great songs here that are fun and easy to sing to and that audiences enjoy. A must have, especially for the price.

very good of type
This is an excellent selection of standards from about 1920-1990. Arrangements are fairly simple, nothing that is going to make showcase repertoire for you, but this book will get you covering enough songs in the genre to be worthwhile. It is also a good resource for requests. To the editors' considerable credit, there is no filler in this book -- the songs are all memorable hits, that people like, that sound good on the piano. If you want showcase repertoire in the same genre, take a look at the similarly titled "The World's BEST piano arrangements" which will, by contrast, give you something to practice on.

This song book stays in my, 'play daily' stack of piano books. The songs are beautiful and very relaxing to play. This book is the BEST bound book I've ever owned. Even though the book has over 400 pages, the book lays flat on the piano for easy reading. Brovo to Leonard Corporation.

As a professional pianist and composer, I have had this book for over 4 years and enjoy playing from it time after time. The songs lend themselves easily to a variety of atmospheres, ranging from intimate dinners to sing-alongs with friends and family, piano bars to weddings. This is a very well-written songbook with many fine choices for one in solitude or many who just appreciate the sheer joy of beautiful songs.

The title says it all
This book is great for weddings: it has a even mix of show tunes, pop ballads, 50s-60s, even Elton John. People like this kind of stuff when they get married, it seems to me. Plus the guitar chords for each song are included---even for "The Hawaiian Wedding Song!"
