Smp_stars40 Not for rank beginners

"I have been playing an "easy" version of Midnight Sun and wanted to try the "adult" version. It was quite a bit harder, but something to strive to master! This is the real stuff. The only problem is that the printing is fairly sloppy, looks like somebody used very old and worn-out printing plates on about half the pieces. It's still very readable, but blurry in places and, as a bifocals wearer and a relatively new piano player this doesn't help my reading a bit!"

Smp_stars40 Witty Classics from a Master

"This collection will demonstrate why Johnny Mercer reigns as one of the greats from the classic songwriting era. Whether on his own ("Dream," "G.I. Jive") or with his many collaborators, Mercer set an unmatched standard for wit and grace with his lyrics. I'm familiar with and already had most of the tunes featured in this book, but it was a worthwhile purchase for me since it provided a few I hadn't been able to find elsewhere, such as "Jamboree Jones," "Pardon My Southern Accent" and "Mandy Is Two." Most of the collection provides a good range of perennials with music by such greats as Harry Warren, Hoagy Carmichael, Harold Arlen and Henry Mancini. The tunes seem to be printed in roughly chronological sequence and would be a fine introduction for Johnny Mercer novices."
