I find this set of etudes-caprices to be of the finest quality, as Marcel Mule put it "these etudes-caprices are to the saxophone as Paganini's are to the violin." I just say start off slow and then build up. Should you at least learn one etude, it...

goes to show that you are becoming a masterful saxophonist. I advise to get this book whenever Ferling or others become commonplace. I also advise Karg-Elert's 25 caprices and Atonal sonata for further study.
