"10 Easy Jazz Duets," written by John La Porta with Greg Nielsen, contains jazz duets in a variety of styles. This unique book is compatible for performance with all instruments and is published with a CD of hip rhythm section backgrounds. In addition, the duets can be performed with a live rhythm section using the chord symbols provided in the C and Bass Clef editions. Not only is the book great for individual jazz practice for improvisation, articulation and phrasing, but it provides interaction with another musician or group with no limitation on the instrumentation. The duets are also very useful to the educator who may find it difficult to get a full band together.

  • July 16, 2008 Fun Jazz Duets for Trumpet

This book of jazz duets and accompanying CD contain 10 jazz tunes, all originals, but based on the chord changes to well known jazz tunes (S'wonderful, Doxy, Honeysuckle Rose etc). You play along with the CD, playing the top part of the duet the first time through and the...

bottom part the second time. Following that there are 3 or 4 choruses of a great rhythm section playing the changes, and following that s "Shout Chorus". Great fun to play along with and a very good learning experience for anyone wanting to improve their jazz playing.

I think that most kids today would like to have some music that sounds at least from this decade. Little Cheezy!

We are section leaders at Concert Band but new to jazz, we found these duets not only a good teachin g tool but they whet our appetite for more: just a bit challenging but totally accessible and very good fun. We also bought the Classical Duets and found the same...

This is absolutely the best easy jazz book you can buy. Nothing else comes close. The songs are top-notch, and you can use the book in so many ways (solo, duet, or use the other soloist on the CD to duet with you)!
