". . .a night devoid of stars" is a collection of three short, reflective pieces for unaccompanied euphonium, each inspired by the writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., specifically a passage from "Where Do We Go From Here? Chaos or Community?". The piece was commissioned by and dedicated to American euphoniumist Aaron Tindall. The composition is equally suited to the euphonium or the trumpet (or the flugelhorn).
