My compositions and arrangements reflect years of being immersed in various kinds of music. A professional trumpet player since high school, I began improvising early, and in my twenties played in swing and latin bands in NYC. After earning a PhD in Music Theory I taught concert band, jazz ensemble, and theory at Wagner College for 23 years. This mixture of classical and jazz influences can be heard in my music. All of my chamber music has been performed and appreciated by professional colleagues. Now living in Venice, Florida, I am arranging for a local swing band and for the Venice Community Orchestra, which I direct (see my arrangements for string orchestra).
