Per Spelmann (Pete, the Fiddler). Composed by Jeanne Julseth-Heinrich. For SATB choir (SSAA), piano 4-hands, flute. Concert, Multicultural. Octavo. Published by Heritage Music Press (LO.15-2000H).
This beloved, famous dance song of the Norwegian culture would be comparable to Yankee Doodle-every American has heard or sung it at some point in their lives. It tells the story of a dedicated young musician who will never, never trade his fiddle again. The middle of the piece features an a cappella section, including the fiddle, as it spins out four simultaneous, dance-like passages. The Norwegian text is included as an option for the rousing refrain.
