Published by Alexander C Burns (S0.71403).An arrangement for string quartet of Domenico Scarlatti's Keyboard Sonata in B minor (Kp.87). Two versions are included: one in the original key, and one transposed up into C minor. For the B minor version, viola and cello are both tuned A-D-F#-B (i.e. the lower two strings are tuned down a semitone). The full score is written at concert pitch, with parts to match. There are also alternative parts for viola and cello, with all notes that fall on the lower two strings transposed up a semitone, to be played as if the strings were at normal pitch; strings are marked in Roman numerals. The C minor version avoids the complication of re-tuning but lacks the resonance of the original key.
