Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, String Quartet - Intermediate
Composed by Stuart Brown. Secular, 21st Century. Score. 18 pages. Published by SB VisionMusic (S0.15439).
Item Number: S0.15439
A beautifully lyrical work which has had a profound impact on everyone who has heard it. Professional musician Idris Harries (QL Australia) has said of it 'I love the harmonies - the tension and release reminds me of the Tallis Fantasia (Vaughan Williams) also of John Tavener's Song for Athene. I like the textures and the rhythmic language. It all works....and is prayerful....it is reflective and gives us space to think.' It features some exquisite harmonies and a glorious central melody played by the first cellos and first violins in unison. Some double-stopping is required but only on perfect fifth intervals. Suitable for amateur string orchestras.
