Vocalise

By Sergei Rachmaninoff

Listen
Detailed Description

Vocalise composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943). Arranged by Stanley M. Hoffman. For TTBB choir (divisi), or optional tenor voice or soprano voice solo, a cappella. Secular, Concert. Difficult. Published by E.C. Schirmer Publishing (EC.8049).

The arranger condenses the piano accompaniment into a cappella choral parts. The TTBB version was arranged for Adam Reinwald and the Cantus Vocal Ensemble for their call for scores "On the Shoulders of Giants." Russian music expert Vladimir Morosan then suggested the idea of an SATB version. Both versions were performed in a joint concert called "Sanctus: Spirit of Music" presented by the Cantus Vocal Ensemble and the National Lutheran Choir conducted by Dr. David Cherwien, on May 5 and 6, 2012, in Edina and Woodbury, Minnesota.
