Idea and Image indicates the marriage of image and concept. The poetic means which the composer employs to convey the imagery beauty reflects the creative motivation and concept behind the composition, in which the void and the solid are coexisted to complement each other: the void connotes the solid, and vice versa. It aims to pursue the intangible, spiritual beauty of the sensual imagery.
Idea and Image was completed in 1989 and had its world premiere in the same year at the Taiwan National Theater Concert Hall.
