Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso (114-41433)by Camille Saint-SaënsArranged by Denis Bouriakov for Flute and PianoA favorite standard showpiece of the violin repertoire, Camille Saint-Saëns’ Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso is an 8-minute delight, full of catchy melodies and sparkling passagework. The celebrated flute virtuoso Denis Bouriakov of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra has adapted the solo part to become a flute showpiece, as recorded on his 2009 CD of violin repertoire transcribed for flute. Bouriakov’s transcription fits perfectly with the standard orchestral accompaniment as well as the present piano reduction. Denis BouriakovPrincipal Flute of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Denis Bouriakov has enjoyed one of the fastest growing careers among flutists of his generation.
