Detailed Description

Honky Tonk Revisited composed by James Combs (1970-). Percussion Ensemble. For Marimba (4-mallet) (solo marimba (4-octave)). Medium. Duration 2:00. Published by C. Alan Publications (CN.01600).

This 2-1/2 minute piece is a salute to the famous honky tonk piano artist 'Meade Lux' Lewis. It is based on the blues scale, uses the standard 12-bar blues progression, and lends itself very well to improvisation. However, if you are uncomfortable improvising, the original solo is written in such a way that it sounds improvised.
