5 Chansons - 3 Scores

By Martin Agricola

Look 5 Chansons - 3 Scores
Detailed Description

5 Chansons - 3 Scores composed by Martin Agricola. For ATB voices; or STT/ATB recorders. Recorder Trios. Early Music Library. Choral or Vocal Music. 3 Scores. Published by London Pro Musica (MM.EML0257).

These chansons demonstrate the many sides of Alexander Agricola (c. 1446-1506). The first two are chansons rustiques, or settings of popular songs. Se vous voulez m estre loyalle et bonne is a courtly song (bergerette/virelai) in a style not far removed from that of Ghizeghem or Busnois. These pieces can be sung, or played on instruments (recorders, viols, etc.). No. 1 can be done with the tenor part sung and the remaining parts on instruments: in nos 2-4 the top part is probably the best to pick out, while no. 5 needs the cantus and tenor to be balanced. The considerable variety of these pieces should be reflected in performance, especially in choice of tempi. Text Translations included CONTENTS: Et qui la dira Par ung jour de matinee Adieu m amour et mon desir Se vous voulez m estre Si conge prens.
