Look Gaudeamus
Detailed Description

Gaudeamus (Choral). Composed by Steven Curtis Lance. For SATB, A cappella. Latin text. Sacred. Published by Voice of the Rockies (VR.VOR64C18).

Here is something new and delectable for Christmas. Marked "misterioso con moto", the motet begins with sounds of appoggiaturas and suspensions as the voices enter. Then there is a refreshing shift from 3/4 to 2/4, as an exciting and rhythmic idea unfolds, crescendo molto, poco a poco a poco, building to a climax and proclaiming "Christus natus est pro nobis. Gaudeamus in excelsis." Glorious glorias cascade as we return to 3/4 and the promise of the opening idea is fulfilled. The 2/4 idea is now celebrated as in the dance, growing and expanding until a tremendous concluding climax in an expansive 4/4, allargando al fine. Extremely vibrant, fresh and refreshing, Gaudeamus ends in a blaze of color and glory.
