Listen
Detailed Description

Silent Night, Holy Night composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Joel Raney. For SATB choir with optional handbells. Blues-Gospel-Spirituals, Classics, Hymntune, Jazz/SwingStyle, Christmas, Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Published by Hope Publishing Company (HP.C5369).

This slow gospel setting of "Silent Night" is one of the highlights of Joel Raney's Christmas cantata, Celebrate the Season. There are a number of performance options including adding rhythm, unison choir and handbells (the bell part is included). Another option is to have a narrator read Luke, chapter 2 over the second verse which can be sung softly, hummed, or sung on a soft 'oo' vowel. Any way you do it, you're sure to find this soulful setting a powerful addtition to your Christmas program.
