Composed by Louis Spohr (1784-1859). Instrumental Solo Part and 2 CDs. Published by Music Minus One (MO.MMOCD3203).
Item Number: MO.MMOCD3203
Ludwig Spohr, who created quite a stir when he began conducting with an odd contraption known as a baton, was also one of the best known violinists of his day (i.e., the first half of the nineteenth century), and is primarily known today for his concerti and other solo works for the fiddle. That he was also quite adept at writing for other instruments than his own is proved by this C-minor Clarinet Concerto, his first of four such works, and a composition high on wit and solid craftsmanship.
Includes a high-quality printed solo part for B-flat clarinet and a digitally remastered compact disc containing a complete version with soloist, then a second recording of the orchestral accompaniment, minus the soloist; and a second compact disc featuring the complete version again, followed by a -20% slow-tempo accompaniment for practice purposes.
