HAYDN: String Quartet in B-flat major, 'Sunrise,' Op. 76, No. 4, HobIII:78

By Franz Joseph Haydn

Detailed Description

Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). Instrumental Solo Part and CD. Published by Music Minus One (MO.MMOCD3134).

Item Number: MO.MMOCD3134

ISBN 1596151633. The Bedford String Quartet - Soloist: Nicholas Milton, 1st violin; Ensemble: Robert Zubrycki, 2nd violin; Kathleen Foster, viola; Arthur Fiacco, cello.

The 'Sunrise,' Haydn's fourth quartet in the op. 76 set, gets its popular name because, in the opening Allegro, the first violin rises slowly out of the sustained harmonies of its accompaniment to announce the principal theme - just as the sun rises out of the East, as it were.

Contains a high-quality printed solo part and a compact disc featuring the quartet in split-channel stereo with the violinist on the right channel; then again in an accompaniment version minus the solo violin part.
