Detailed Description

Phos Hilaron (Choral). Composed by David Heck. For Choir (SATB), Chimes, Cymbals. Sacred. Published by Voice of the Rockies (VR.VOR63C02).

The text for this one is from the Order Of Evening Worship ("O gracious light, Pure brightness of the everliving Fa-ther in heav'n, blessed, and now, now as we come to the setting of the sun, our eyes be-hold the ve-per light, We sing Thy praises, O God, Fa-ther, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thou art wor-thy at all times to be praised by happy voices,&") Because of the voice splits, this one needs a mid-sized to large choir. There is nice interplay between voice parts&usually between SSAA and TTBB. The chimes and cymbals give it an unusual sound. It begins quietly and gradually excalates in intensity until the big, large ending.
