Detailed Description

Twelve Days of Christmas composed by Judith Katz. For flute quartet. Level 3. Score and parts. Duration 4 minutes 20 seconds. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMW095).

The Twelve Days of Christmas is an English Christmas carol, representing the gifts presented on each of the twelve days of the Christmas holiday. The structure of the tune is cumulative, meaning that each verse is built on top of the previous verses. It has become of the most popular and recorded Christmas songs in America and Europe. The song was reportedly first performed in 1842. In my arrangement, I wanted to infuse the song with a baroque flavor with the use of sixteenth notes. I thought that the key of Bb would be very workable for a young ensemble.
