Lord of the Dance (I Danced in the Morning)

By Michael McCarthy

Look Lord of the Dance (I Danced in the Morning)
Detailed Description

Lord of the Dance (I Danced in the Morning) composed by Michael McCarthy. For SATB choir divisi a cappella, soprano voice, tenor/baritone voice solos. Easter, Lent. Moderately Difficult. Octavo. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers (MN.50-3110).

This arrangement was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 for a program of Lenten readings and music. While honoring the jaunty nature of the shaker melody set on the tune SIMPLE GIFTS, the arrangement carries a darker undertone when recounting the crucifixion and death of Jesus, thus making it suitable for use in Lent as well as other times of the year. Part of the Washington National Cathedral Series.
